It's All About You (6KCBWDay2)

Well, it is difficult for me to talk about me...but here we go.

For 29 years, I was a teacher. Well, almost. My last five years in education I was a Literacy Coach, then a Mentor Teacher, and finally the Lead Curriculum Specialist for Elementary Language Arts.

It was during the last eight years in the classroom that I derived my most enjoyment. I taught 6th grade language arts and absolutely loved it. I read more during those eight years than at any other time. Students and I shared titles and talked about books all the time.I truly miss those times...

I retired from teaching almost two years ago. Since then I have continued to do some things that are education related - long-term sub job, writing curriculum, writing assessments. I like doing these things as they keep me engaged. But I don't think I want to do that forever.

I do have another blog where I review children's books (fortheloveofchildrensbooks.blogspot.com). I enjoy doing this because I like to read...especially children's books. I have a goal to make it truly friendly for teachers and parents to utilize with resources. I really didn't read much as I was growing up, but I hope my blog will provide ideas for parents.

Right now I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird in preparation for the release of Harper Lee's new book that will be released on July 14th.

I love movies...action, comedy, romantic. Everything!

I wish I kept better fit than I do. As I grow older I realize how important that is. I try to walk at least 3-4 times a week, but it is already starting to get very hot here in Texas. It was cooler this morning, so I did go for a walk!

My dream holiday destination is Ireland. My husband and I have wanted to go for years. Hopefully we will someday.

Although I do not have any children (my husband has three), I am a NaNa five times over. Oh wait, six with my husband's oldest daughter's stepson. Prior to him we had all girls.

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up...I will have to keep thinking about that one!
